These small-format oil paintings are finished with a thick, high-gloss resin coating, not evident in the photos. This element adds a material component to the concept/subject matter of the paintings. 
 The meaning is embedded in the title: rising waters occasioned by climate change; a hallmark of the progress of modern living now rendered useless by the effects of modern living itself; an existential equalizer of humankind, and the planet’s reaction to, and indifference to, human toil.
 There is the superficial reading of the grief or anger at the climate disaster, but there is also a sort of universal or archaic aspect that might come up in encountering these works too; Biblical: The Flood, subconscious: water as pool of subconscious potential, archaic: that all life on earth sprang from water.
