Diane Hiscox is a Canadian painter and textile artist. Recent bodies of work have considered themes of social justice and social effects of climate change. Other bodies of work have explored more personal journeys, both metaphorical and real. Diane holds a MFA from Georgia State University and a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design. She studied the first two years of her BFA program at Otis Art Institute (Los Angeles), and has taken additional studies at the New York Studio School, Penland School of Crafts (North Carolina), the Ottawa School of Arts, and Dundas Valley School of Arts.
Diane is a Fellow of the Virginia Center for Creative Arts and has completed residencies at the Centers in Amherst VA and Auvillar, France, and has completed artist residencies at the Leipzig International Artist Program (Germany), the Burren College of Art Residency (Ireland), and the Hammer & Sky Artist Residency (Nova Scotia).
Diane has exhibited in Canada, USA, Latvia, and Japan, has work in public and private collections in Canada, the US, and Europe.
Diane also has a background in constitutional and international law. She holds law degrees from Dalhousie University and University of Ottawa. She practiced as counsel with the Canadian Department of Justice, and worked as a legislative drafter for various government and other departments.
